Help Haiti quake survivors now! 1 million rendered homeless, another 1 million children who are unaccompanied, orphaned or lost one parent, 2 million who need food aid but there are only 400,000 people receiving food aid, and 700,000 to 800,000 living in makeshift camps.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson’s designs at Fairwear 2010 fashion show |
 Emma Watson’s designs for People Tree will be featured at the Fairwear 2010 fashion show on 25 February at Briston Cathedral, UK. Better known as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, Watson’s “collection brings a youthful and inspiring edge to Fair Trade fashion,” said Fairwear 2010 organizers. “I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with,” said the young British actress.

Dr Sharma: Fair Trade foot soldier, activist and WFTO honorary member |
 Dr Sharma described himself as an academician who later turned into a social activist, a development worker and then a social entrepreneur. He was influenced by the independence movement in India in which Gandhi played an important part.
“The Gandhi movement, which promoted the idea of gram swaraj, based on local, appropriate models of economic upliftment of the poor, was inspiring,” he said. Charkha, the symbol of Gandhism, put stress on the creation of appropriate models of income generation based on sustainable production and consumption.
