Biggest European Fair Trade fair invites participants

LYON, France - The second European Fair Trade exposition is inviting entrepreneurs, wholesalers, retailers, academicians, professionals, Fair Trade supporters and students to witness and learn the second biggest gathering of Fair Trade producers, Fair Trade Organizations and professionals in the Fair Trade movement in Europe.     

second_euro_fair_trade_fair.jpgHoused in the historic Tony Garnier Hall in Lyon, France on 2-4 October, Fair Trade producers will showcase exciting products from around the globe, and major players in the Fair Trade movement will tackle burning issues in the Fair’s workshops with the participation of professionals and experts in various sectors.  It’s a three-day action packed event where you can learn how you can participate in responsible economy initiatives, help beat poverty and climate change, start your own Fair Trade business, and debate Fair Trade issues  

The Fair is expected to host around 300 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors from around Europe (including 5,000 more or less professionals and experts who will be participating in the workshops).  The event aims to: raise awareness on Fair Trade issues, bring together European fair traders and to develop new way of commercial exchanges, meet the producers from poor countries, and intensify the link between actors of sustainable development, and social and solidarity economy. 

Leading organizations in the movement, the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and Fairtrade Labelling Organizations (FLO), will share its expertise during workshops on various topics.  It’s guaranteed you will go home with a whole lot of new ideas after attending the two-day workshops, experience new socially responsible products, and meet forward thinking Fair Traders.  Workshops registration is open until 25 September at €30 only for the two-day learning activity.  

The burning issues you can learn and debate in the workshops are:  the European Union and Fair Trade; the impact of Fair Trade; Fair Trade and the environment; guarantees, regulations and applications of Fair Trade; public aid for development, and decentralized cooperation; economical analysis of Fair Trade networks; the textile industry and collective responsible purchasing; strategies of international Fair Trade Organizations (WFTO and FLO); Fair Tourism and many more! 

This event is organised by Equi’sol, a French non-profit organization that promotes reliable Fair Trade systems, with the collaboration of WFTO-Europe, FLO, Belgium Technical Cooperation (BTC), BananaLink, Eine Welt Netz NRW, Plate-Forme Française du Commerce Equitable, Artisans du Monde, Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders, and with the cooperation of the French Ministry of Sustainable Development, Région Rhône Alpes, Ville de Lyon, GrandLyon, OnlyLyon, City of Villeurbanne, Crédit Coopératif, Res Publica, La Nef, Regional Chamber for Social and Solidarity of Rhône Alpes, City of Grenoble, Fondation Amisse, Les Entreprises Cooperatives Rhône AlpesConfédération Suissé, and Agence Francaise de Developpement
