| Pachacuti receives prestigious Big Tick award |

 Pachacuti is among a small cadre of businesses to receive Business in the Community’s (BITC’s) coveted National Big Tick, which was awarded for their work on the Sustainable Fair Trade Management System. The Big Tick award is the first level of award available to entrants of BITC’s national Awards for Excellence, the Pachacuti’s programme was also short listed for consideration for the title of Example of Excellence – the overall winner – for the International category, and presented their entry to a panel of expert judges in May. The Awards for Excellence reward businesses who demonstrate the positive impact they have had on society, and also the business benefits created by ensuring that being responsible is integral to their business model.  Carry Somers commented; “We are delighted to have our work on addressing Millennium Development Goals recognised by receiving the Big Tick and to have been short listed for the overall Example of Excellence in the International category. The Sustainable Fair Trade Management System provides a framework within which marginalised producers can develop the capacity to take more control over their work and their lives through becoming better organised, resourced and supported.
