SFTMS
Sustainable Fair Trade Management System

SFTMS is the new worldwide Standard for the independent certification of organisations which demonstrate Fair Trade Business practices.

SFTMS is a dynamic and integrated approach for the certification of production, trading and communication.

This new worldwide standard framework complements the existing Fair Trade product labelling approaches.
Sustainability in this context means addressing social, environmental and economic issues. The foundation and cornerstone of this Standard are the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) Fair Trade Principles which support strong, value-based business models.

The following document defines the requirements of SFTMS in terms of management philosophy and practise and the external reporting obligations of organisations which wish to obtain certification.

It outlines the conditions for the independent certification of organisations, the use of the SFTMS logo on products and the governance of this Fair Trade standard.

The requirements of this standard are applicable to any Organisation applying Fair Trade principles in all its business processes regardless of the nature of its activities or the location in which they occur.
